Overview
Join our team as a Blast Hole Driller and become a vital part of our mining operations! In this role, you will operate Gill Rock (Beetle) drilling machinery for blast hole applications that enable aggregate extraction. Your experience in surface drilling, combined with your mechanical knowledge and commitment to safety, will drive the success of our mining projects. This position offers an opportunity to work outdoors in challenging environments while honing your skills in industrial equipment operation and safety compliance.
Duties
- Operate various drilling machines, vertical drill rigs, to bore blast holes according to project specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
- Follow detailed drilling plans, adhering strictly to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Creating a detailed bore hole log for the blasting operation.
- Perform manual handling tasks such as loading drill rods, securing equipment, and managing materials safely.
- Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including hole depth, location, and equipment usage.
- Comply with all MSHA and OSHA safety standards, wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times during outdoor work.
- Support other mining operations such as water truck management or heavy equipment operation like excavators or forklifts as needed.Experience
- Hands-on experience with heavy lifting, manual handling, welding, and construction site procedures.
- Familiarity with safety regulations including MSHA and OSHA standards, safety protocol adherence.
- Demonstrated ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with outdoor work experience preferred.
- Prior experience operating heavy machinery such as Caterpillar excavators, forklifts, water trucks, or tankers is advantageous.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on drilling equipment.
