Duties
- Prepare exam rooms and assist healthcare providers during patient visits by gathering supplies and ensuring a sterile environment
- Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature with precision and professionalism
- Perform phlebotomy procedures to collect blood samples for laboratory testing while maintaining patient comfort and safety
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient histories, diagnoses (ICD coding), treatments, and follow-up instructions
- Support patient intake processes by, updating medical histories, and answering patient questions with empathy
- Maintain medical supplies inventory, sterilize equipment, and ensure compliance with safety standards in various clinical settings including outpatient clinics, hospital units, or emergency departments
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant credential from an accredited program or institution
- Proven experience in outpatient or hospital medicine settings with familiarity in dermatology, emergency medicine, or internal medicine preferred
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology to support accurate patient assessments and procedures
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and ICD coding for efficient documentation and billing processes
- Ability to perform phlebotomy accurately and confidently; additional skills in X-ray or radiology procedures are a plus
- Knowledge of hospital experience including inpatient units such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Geriatrics is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments like Level I or Level II trauma centers or urgent care clinics
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations across outpatient settings or hospital floors
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in emergency medicine or trauma care are beneficial
