Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Preschool Bus Driver to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of young children to and from school and extracurricular activities. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for providing a secure, comfortable, and positive experience for our preschool students. Your role will involve adhering to all safety regulations, demonstrating excellent communication skills, and fostering a caring environment during transit. Duties
- Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles, including wheelchair assistance, following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and emergency equipment.
- Transport preschool students along designated routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Assist children with boarding and disembarking, providing support with mobility aids such as wheelchairs when necessary.
- Enforce student discipline policies with patience and professionalism, managing behavior effectively during transit.
- Respond promptly to traffic changes or emergencies by applying defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures for transportation.
- Communicate clearly with parents, school staff, and dispatchers to coordinate schedules and relay important information.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, student attendance, incidents, and vehicle inspections in writing or electronic logs.
- Ensure passenger safety at all times by following child behavior management protocols and emergency stop procedures.
- Uphold confidentiality regarding student information while providing excellent customer service to families and staff.
Experience
- Proven experience driving buses or commercial vehicles, preferably in school or transit bus operation.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and state/local commercial driving laws applicable to school bus operation.
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with wheelchair assistance techniques and paratransit services is preferred.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required or must be obtained upon hire; knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation is essential.
- Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities.
- Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies while maintaining safety standards.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and handle vehicle maintenance checks confidently.
- Knowledge of student discipline strategies and behavior management techniques ensures a safe environment onboard.

Pay: From $132.00 per day
