We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Mission Navy Yard in Washington, DC. This position plays a key leadership role in the kitchen, supporting the Sous Chef and Executive Chef in daily operations. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, organized under pressure, and skilled in both English and Spanish communication.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of 4–6 kitchen employees during assigned shifts.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared in accordance with company recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen that complies with local health and safety regulations.
- Oversee food preparation, portioning, and quality control to maintain consistency.
- Assist in training, mentoring, and motivating kitchen staff.
- Support inventory management, ordering, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service.
- Uphold a positive and professional work environment that fosters teamwork and respect.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of professional kitchen experience, preferably in a supervisory or lead cook role.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation practices.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal proficiency required).
- Excellent leadership, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Passion for culinary excellence and continuous learning.

Pay: $62,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
