Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IP Litigation Associate to join our intellectual property practice. The successful candidate will represent domestic and international clients in complex litigation and administrative proceedings involving patents, copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, and trade dress matters before district courts, the PTAB, and the ITC. This role requires strong litigation experience, a practical understanding of technical subject matter (particularly in technology), and the ability to manage cases from initial pleadings through trial or resolution.

Key Responsibilities
-
Manage a docket of IP litigation matters, including patents, copyright, and trademarks, from inception through resolution.

Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and briefs for district court litigation and administrative proceedings (PTAB, USPTO, ITC).

Lead and support all phases of trial preparation: fact and expert discovery, depositions, mock trials, exhibits, witness preparation, and trial strategy.

Coordinate with technical experts, in-house counsel, and clients to develop case theories, infringement/invalidity positions, and damages strategies, especially in technology-related matters.

Manage e-discovery and litigation technology vendors, supervise document review teams, and ensure compliance with discovery obligations and protective orders.

Conduct legal research and draft internal memoranda on complex IP issues, including patent claim construction, patent eligibility, likelihood of confusion in trademark law, and trade secret protection.

Provide strategic client counseling on enforcement and defense strategies, portfolio risk assessment, licensing opportunities, and settlement negotiations.

Mentor and supervise junior associates and paralegals, review work product, and contribute to training and development of the team.

Participate in business development efforts, client pitches, and industry events to grow the IP litigation practice.
Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the D.C. or NY Bar.

2+ years of experience in intellectual property litigation, including hands-on experience with patent litigation. Trial or significant trial-preparation experience preferred.

Strong understanding of intellectual property law including patents, copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, and trade dress, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues.

Experience working with clients and technical experts in technology sectors; technical degree required

Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with proven ability to draft persuasive briefs and present complex arguments to courts and agencies.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams, manage multiple matters and deadlines, and maintain client-focused professionalism.

Willingness to travel for hearings, depositions, and trial as needed.
