Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Medical Surgical Registered Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team. Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner.
- Administer medications via IV infusion, injections, and other routes while ensuring aseptic technique and proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor patients’ conditions closely, utilizing telemetry and other monitoring equipment to detect changes in vital signs or acute pain levels promptly.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with hospital standards, including NCQA standards for quality care.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures such as catheterization, laboratory specimen collection, and wound suturing; provide post-procedure care including ostomy care and ventilator management.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medication administration, discharge instructions, and health coaching strategies for chronic disease management.
- Maintain accurate medical records, ensure compliance with ICD-10 coding standards, and document all patient interactions thoroughly in EMR/EHR systems.
- Support infection control protocols and participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on trauma medicine, infectious disease care, or geriatrics as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a registered nurse in medical-surgical units within hospital settings or outpatient clinics.
- Critical care experience preferred, including ICU or Level I/II trauma center exposure; experience with telemetry monitoring is highly valued.
- Familiarity with advanced procedures such as cardiac catheterization, dialysis management, or PICU experience is advantageous.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; experience managing electronic health records is essential.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology related to acute pain management and medication administration.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients or individuals with developmental disabilities enhances your candidacy.
- Ability to perform under pressure during emergency medicine situations or trauma responses; certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
