Lumetrics develops and manufactures precision non-contact thickness measurement and optical inspection systems and Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensors for a variety of markets including ophthalmic, medical balloons & tubing, automotive, and laminated glass, AR/VR and beyond. Our OptiGauge and Lumetrics Wavefront Sensor (LWS) family of products provides precision thickness measurement technology, which is fast, accurate, flexible, and scalable to most QA laboratories, R&D centers, or production lines.
To meet the demands of the business, Lumetrics is seeking a qualified individual to join the R&D Department. This position is an on-site, full-time role.
Essential job functions include, but not limited to, the following:
● Assist Optical and Mechanical Engineering in setting up test benches, conducting experiments, and acquiring performance data
● Support Prototyping efforts by following build instructions or modifying experimental optical assemblies
● Work with and understand Bill of Materials for product assembly
● Mechanical parts assembly and testing
● Lens and optical system alignment
● Write or revise incomplete Build Documentation as required or instructed and communicate revisions to the Engineering Department
● Assist with R&D lab inventory and with sourcing specialized optical components
● Work closely with Engineering Department to diagnose and fix system problems
● Provide cross department support by assisting with manufacturing of optical instruments and system repairs
● Collaborate with Manufacturing Manager and other employees, as required
Qualifications:
● BS in technical-related field or equivalent experience
● 2+ years’ experience in mechanical, optical or electronic manufacturing preferred
● Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel
● Familiarity with LabVIEW, Python, or MATLAB (mastery not required)
● Proficiency with basic electronic and optical test systems including DMMs and oscilloscopes, optical power meters, and detectors
● Proficiency with digital calipers, micrometers, and other manual inspection equipment
● Ability to read and follow mechanical assembly and part drawings
● Candidate should be conscientious, pay extreme attention to detail, exhibit good observational, listening and public speaking skills, and possess excellent writing skills
● Respect for laser safety protocols is mandatory
This position requires in-office presence. In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $55,000 – $80,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience.
