Sous Chef

Geoffrey’s Malibu, an Oceanside fine dining destination restaurant is currently seeking a culinary professional that are highly motivated career focused individuals that will provide direct support to the Executive Chef overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The following tasks and responsibilities are under direct supervision of the Executive Chef
- Work alongside Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to review assignments.
- Must be able to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively
- Must be a team leader while maintaining a team mentality
- Must possess expertise of every station on the line and fill in where necessary
- Candidates will uphold established standards at all times, maintain attention to detail while working with speed and accuracy during periods of high pressure and stress
- Candidates will be responsible for training and education of staff; assist, develop and motivate staff on an ongoing basis
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of work areas
- Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and company policies
Requirements:
- Candidates should have a substantial culinary background, possessing strong food knowledge
- Candidates will be personable, great leaders, creative and well organized
- Minimum of 2 years Sous Chef/lead line experience in a high volume restaurant
- Culinary degree preferred but not required
- Must be able to manage a team and work cohesively with all back of the house personnel
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced and demanding environment
- Must have basic computer skills
- Prior catering experience preferred but not required
- Food safety certificate
- Bilingual(English/Spanish) preferred but not required
- Must have flexibility with schedule requirements
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
