Lead Carpenter/remodeler – Newsom Design Build

Newsom Design Build is a Minneapolis-based general contracting company specializing in residential remodeling, finish carpentry, and custom woodwork. We’re looking for a Lead Carpenter to run day-to-day operations on our job sites and help lead our crew.
What you’ll do
- Lead and mentor a general carpenter on-site, keeping projects on schedule and on quality
- Handle finish carpentry work directly — trim, cabinetry, doors, built-ins
- Communicate directly with clients on-site, answering questions and managing expectations
- Coordinate with subcontractors (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) to keep projects moving
- Troubleshoot problems as they come up, without needing to escalate every issue
- Understand the full scope of a remodel — not just carpentry, but how each trade fits together
What we’re looking for
- Strong background in finish carpentry
- Broad remodeling knowledge — comfortable with general framing, drywall repair, and coordinating other trades even if you’re not doing that work yourself
- Proven ability to lead another carpenter and keep a job site organized
- Clear, professional communication with clients and subs
- Reliable, shows up ready to work, takes ownership of the job site
