The staff LPN manages the staff, clients, and medications in the CSU and CCSU Programs. The position requires a qualified licensed nurse who can appropriately integrate with the medical staff and other department staff that provide and contribute to patient care. The Staff LPN implements several important functions, including medication management, nursing assessments, treatment planning, and other duties required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Duties and Responsibilities reflect the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all related work assignments that may be inherent to the job.
Perform evaluations (medical status, psychiatric status) within 24 hours of the patient’s admission.
Evaluates, implements, and documents safety measures necessary for the patient.
Implement plan of care and intervention.
Accurately observed records and reported medical and psychiatric signs and symptoms to the appropriate personnel.
Demonstrates ability to physically de-escalate a crisis involving mental health patients.
Maintain a working knowledge of psychiatric intervention skills.
Document patient’s medical records to include pertinent nursing observations and actions taken reflecting the plan of care.
Administer medication and perform procedures as ordered by the physician with accuracy, efficiency and appropriate knowledge of pharmacology and basic nursing care.
Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical conduct.
Perform other duties as required by Supervisor.
Ability to evaluate, plan, and implement Plans of Care.
Ability to observe and record client symptoms, conditions and/or reactions to medications and treatment.
Ability to demonstrate the giving of injections, monitoring vital signs, performing glucose monitoring, dressing simple wounds, and performing urine drug screens and pregnancy tests.
Ability to demonstrate medication administration safely and accurately, including transcription and documentation according to policies and procedures.
Ability to utilize and navigate an electronic health record and Microsoft Office software.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Employee must be licensed in the State of Florida as an LPN. Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a general staff nurse.
Individual must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with clients, in staff meetings, and with supervisors.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Must have Intermediate to advanced experience in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), the use of personal computers, and standard office productivity software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
A valid Class E Driver’s License for positions that require driving personal or Agency vehicle on Agency business.
Must maintain a minimum Bodily Injury & Property Liability insurance limit of at least $50,000 for positions that require driving personal own vehicle (POV) on Agency business. (Proof Required)
PPBH is a 24/7 Agency. All employees must be available as needed when required.
