We are a boutique law firm based in White Plains, New York, with a practice spanning commercial litigation, cannabis law, and corporate/transactional matters. As a growing firm, we offer attorneys the opportunity to build deep expertise across a varied and interesting practice and grow their own book of business if they so choose. We are seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate who is ready to independently run cases from intake through resolution. This is a role for an attorney who wants genuine case ownership and the opportunity to grow their practice and professional judgment alongside a firm that is scaling, with the potential upside that this growth entails.
Responsibilities
- Help develop case strategy from the intake of the matter through its resolution in coordination with the Managing Partner.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research.
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, contracts, and discovery requests with precision and clarity.
- Manage all phases of electronic discovery, from preservation and collection through review and production.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Argue motions in court.
- Pretrial preparation, including trial strategy, witness prep, and exhibit development
- Handle Article 78 proceedings against government agencies and administrative bodies.
- Conduct settlement negotiations.
- Participate in all aspects of arbitrations and mediations.
- Manage pretrial proceedings by organizing evidence, developing case theories, and coordinating witness testimony.
- Manage multiple cases efficiently through effective legal case management practices, ensuring deadlines are met and client communication is maintained throughout the litigation process.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in New York State (admission in S.D.NY., E.D.NY., N.DN.Y and/or D.N.J. a plus).
- Working knowledge of the CPLR.
- At least 4-5+ years of substantive commercial litigation experience.
- Demonstrated experience handling cases independently.
- Strong writing and oral advocacy skills, tested in real motion practice and depositions.
- A reliable self-starter who can manage multiple matters and competing deadlines with sound judgment while producing excellent work product.
- Comfort working in a small-firm environment with direct case responsibility.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment in a fast-paced setting.
Salary is commensurate with experience. The firm also offers origination credit and performance-based bonuses.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
