Responsibilities
- Assist clients in understanding mortgage options, including FNMA (Fannie Mae) loans and other government-backed programs, ensuring compliance with Fair Housing regulations.
- Originate loan applications by gathering necessary financial documentation and conducting credit analysis to assess borrower eligibility.
- Negotiate terms with clients and third-party partners to secure favorable loan conditions while adhering to lending policies and regulations.
- Process loan files efficiently using mortgage servicing software such as Quicken or similar platforms, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with underwriters to facilitate timely loan approvals by providing required documentation and clarifications.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients throughout the loan process, delivering exceptional customer service and addressing inquiries promptly.
- Stay current on industry regulations including TILA (Truth in Lending Act), escrow procedures, and banking standards to ensure compliance at every step.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a loan officer or in a related financial sales role within the mortgage or banking industry.
- Strong negotiation skills paired with excellent customer service abilities to build trust and rapport with clients.
- Proficiency in mortgage origination, loan processing, underwriting, and credit analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with FNMA guidelines, TILA regulations, Fair Housing laws, and mortgage servicing practices.
- Competency in using financial software such as Quicken, accounting software, escrow management tools, and 10-key typing for basic math calculations.
- Ability to analyze financial documents accurately and perform math calculations essential for credit assessment and contract review.
- Knowledge of contracts, banking procedures, escrow processes, and basic accounting principles related to mortgage transactions.
