Position Summary
The LVN is responsible for providing nursing support and medication oversight for clients in a residential mental health setting. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with individuals experiencing mental health and/or co-occurring substance use disorders and is able to function independently in a fast-paced residential environment. Similar California residential behavioral health LVN roles commonly include medication administration, vitals monitoring, documentation, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Essential Responsibilities

Administer and document prescribed medications

Monitor client vital signs and overall physical wellbeing

Observe and report changes in client condition to clinical leadership

Maintain accurate nursing and medication documentation

Coordinate with physicians, pharmacies, and treatment team members

Respond appropriately to medical or psychiatric concerns within scope of practice

Ensure compliance with facility policies and California regulatory standards

Support a safe, respectful, and therapeutic treatment environment

Assist with admissions, medication reconciliation, and discharge coordination as needed
Qualifications

Active and unrestricted California LVN license required

Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, detox, or substance use treatment preferred

Strong documentation and communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge of psychotropic medications and behavioral health populations preferred
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed

Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

Ability to complete medication administration and documentation duties accurately
