Litigation Attorney opportunity with an established national firm and growing Houston practice specializing in mortgage banking and financial services
Litigation Associate Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various litigation matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
- Participate in depositions and court hearings
- Develop and implement case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys
- Review and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations applicable to cases
- Manage discovery processes, including document production and interrogatories
- Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation and exhibit organization
- Maintain client communications and provide regular updates on case progress
- Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution methods
- Prepare legal correspondence and maintain thorough case files
- Attend client meetings and provide legal advice
- Conduct interviews with clients and witnesses
Litigation Associate Qualifications & Skills
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in the jurisdiction where the firm operates
- 3+ years of experience in litigation and some trial experience
- Strong understanding of civil procedure and evidence rules
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Experience in both state and federal courts
- Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to the Bar in the relevant state
- 1-3 years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency in legal research and case management software
- Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment and manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team
Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
