Overview

Duties
- Assist with preparation of materials including sheet metal, ductwork, and piping for welding and fabrication tasks
- Support welding operations using MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques according to AWS standards
- Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
- Read blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints to interpret project requirements accurately
- Perform shop math calculations for measurements, fabrication dimensions, and assembly processes
- Support rigging, pipe threading, and assembly activities on construction sites or in fabrication shops
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials while adhering to safety protocols
Experience
- Prior construction site experience or metal fabrication background preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates
- Familiarity with welding processes including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding is highly desirable
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately
- Experience with blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation required
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to welding and fabrication is a plus
- Comfort operating forklifts or other heavy machinery is advantageous but not mandatory
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements, shop calculations, and project estimations
