We’re looking for a talented Bartender to join the crew at Mortar & Pestle, our craft cocktail bar inside Curry Up Now San Mateo. If you’ve got the speed, the style, and the spirit to deliver top-tier drinks with serious hospitality—we want to meet you.
You’ll crush this role if you:

Know your way around a jigger, shaker, and muddler

Can batch with precision and pour with flair

Are fluent in classic cocktails and curious about modern mixology

Can deliver warm, confident hospitality in a high-energy environment

Can work Sundays (non-negotiable—we need weekend warriors)
What you’ll be doing:

Mixing cocktails with consistency and creativity

Providing stellar guest service at the bar and restaurant tables
-
Supporting food and bar operations (including cleaning and restocking)

Using the POS system efficiently

Representing Mortar & Pestle with personality, knowledge, and pride
What we’re looking for:

1+ year of bartending experience (restaurant or cocktail bar preferred)
-
RBS certification required

Food Handler’s certification required
-
Strong communication skills (English required)

Available to work Sundays, plus holidays and evenings

Requirements:
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
-
At least 1 year Bartending experience in a restaurant or bar

Demonstrated success in service excellence, customer service, beverage/food service hospitality
-
Knowledge of OSHA and EEOC regulations, restaurant/food safety procedures
-
Point of Sale (POS) knowledge/skills preferred
-
Ability to successfully perform all job duties of the Bartender role

Food Safety/Food Handler certification required
-
Strong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with guests, staff, and management.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English language

Possesses basic math skill (add, subtract, multiply, divide)

Proven ability to problem solve and handle high stress situations

Must be prepared to multitask in accordance with the demands of the business
