As part of the JB Poindexter & Co. family of companies, Medix continues to grow and invest in our people, processes, and operations. We are seeking an experienced and collaborative supply chain leader to join our team as our Director of Purchasing & Supply Chain.
Position Summary
The Director of Purchasing & Supply Chain is responsible for leading all purchasing, materials management, inventory control, and supply chain operations in support of manufacturing and business objectives.
This role provides strategic and operational leadership for procurement, supplier management, inventory planning, material availability, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring production continuity and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will partner closely with operations, engineering, finance, quality, and corporate leadership to drive KPI performance, improve supply chain processes, and support enterprise initiatives across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop purchasing, materials, and inventory control team members, including both hourly and salaried employees.
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiations, contracts, and procurement activities.
- Ensure material availability to support production schedules and customer commitments.
- Oversee inventory management, material planning, and ERP/MRP processes.
- Drive supplier performance improvements in quality, delivery, cost, and service.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to purchasing and supply chain performance.
- Identify and execute cost savings, working capital, and operational improvement opportunities.
- Partner with operations, engineering, quality, and finance teams to support business objectives and production requirements.
- Lead forecasting, demand planning, and inventory optimization initiatives.
- Utilize Lean manufacturing principles and PDCA methodologies to drive continuous improvement and problem resolution.
- Prepare and communicate operational and KPI reporting to facility and corporate leadership teams.
- Collaborate with corporate teams and sister locations to support enterprise initiatives and best practice sharing.
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier risk mitigation efforts.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials management, or related functions within manufacturing.
- Experience leading both hourly and salaried employees.
- Strong ERP/MRP, inventory management, and material planning experience.
- Proven success managing supplier relationships and contract negotiations.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Experience supporting multi-site or corporate reporting structures preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field preferred.
- CPSM, CPM, APICS/ASCM, or similar certifications preferred.
