Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic-Painter
Effective Date: 7/7/2026
Location: Valley Cottage
Payrate: $26.00 per hour
Part-time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general direction, is responsible for maintaining, repairing and performing preventative maintenance services on all equipment and structures at Agency owned buildings and leased properties.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Minimum Experience: Five years of experience in building operations in a maintenance capacity, with 2+ years in residential and or commercial painting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSAs):
- Extensive knowledge of building trades,
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical equipment related to HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner
- Must be available or emergency repairs and shared weekend and evening on call responsibilities
- Ability to visually detect maintenance problems
- Must be willing to work flexible hours
- Must be proficient with basic tools used in the maintenance field
- Good organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and meet Agency driving standards
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1 Plans and schedules painting projects based on need through coordination with the programs.
2 Performs minor repairs to plumbing systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems.
3 Performs general carpentry tasks as required.
4 Performs painting tasks as required.
5 Removes and installs major appliances.
6 Performs preventive maintenance functions on Agency facilities and equipment.
7 Performs emergency repairs as they arise.
8 Inspects and otherwise exercises control over repairs and alteration work performed by outside vendors.
9 Serves as liaison to contractors.
10 Performs snow removal and salting as required to all concrete and paved services.
11 Procures materials to complete repairs as needed.
12 Analyzes maintenance issues and develops a solution to complete needed repair.
13 Keeps records and makes oral and written reports of department activities.
14 Keeps maintenance equipment clean, safe, and in operable condition.
15 Keeps Agency vehicle in a neat and safe condition.
