Position Summary
The AMR Deployment Engineer is responsible for deploying Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) systems across customer and internal sites throughout North America. This role combines hands‑on installation, system configuration, electrical integration, and PLC‑based troubleshooting to ensure successful, safe, and efficient robot deployments. The engineer works closely with operations, IT, controls, and vendor teams to deliver reliable automation solutions that meet operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities: AMR Deployment & Commissioning
- Install, configure, and commission AMR robots, docking stations, charging systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Create and validate navigation maps, traffic rules, workflows, and mission logic.
- Perform functional testing, calibration, and acceptance procedures to ensure system readiness.
- Conduct on‑site troubleshooting during go‑live and stabilization phases.
Electrical & Controls Integration
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Install and troubleshoot low‑voltage wiring, sensors, safety devices, and network components.
- Integrate AMRs with facility equipment using PLCs, I/O modules, and industrial communication protocols.
- Collaborate with controls engineers to ensure safe and compliant system behavior.
System Integration & Networking
- Integrate AMR systems with WMS, WCS, ERP, or custom APIs.
- Configure networks, VLANs, firewalls, and secure communication pathways.
- Diagnose connectivity issues between robots, servers, and facility systems.
Operational Optimization
- Analyze facility layouts and material flow to design efficient AMR routes and workflows.
- Recommend improvements to increase throughput, reduce downtime, and enhance robot performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives post‑deployment.
Documentation & Training
- Create deployment documentation, configuration records, and system diagrams.
- Train operators, maintenance teams, and supervisors on AMR usage, safety, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate logs of changes, updates, and system performance.
Travel
- Travel up to 50% across North America for deployments, site assessments, and support.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Hands‑on experience with AMR, AGV, or warehouse automation systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, sensors, and industrial safety standards.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, ladder logic, I/O troubleshooting, and industrial communication protocols.
- Proficiency with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Wi‑Fi, VLANs, firewalls).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, facility layouts, and electrical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to travel extensively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AMR platforms (MiR, OTTO, Locus, Geek+, Fetch, etc.).
- Familiarity with ROS/ROS2, Python, or scripting for automation.
- Experience in integrating automation with WMS/WCS/ERP systems.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, material flow, and industrial safety standards.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
