Responsibilities
As a Diesel Technician, you will perform maintenance and repairs on commercial buses and diesel-powered vehicles to ensure maximum reliability and passenger safety.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance according to OEM recommendations
- Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, air brake, HVAC, suspension, and engine issues
- Repair diesel engines, transmissions, cooling systems, steering, suspension, and driveline components
- Troubleshoot engine performance using diagnostic software and scan tools
- Service air brake systems in compliance with DOT regulations
- Perform tire replacement, balancing, alignments, and wheel-end inspections
- Inspect vehicles for DOT compliance and complete safety inspections
- Complete work orders accurately and document repairs using company software
- Respond to road calls and emergency repairs when required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures
- Communicate repair recommendations with supervisors and fleet management
- Assist with maintaining parts inventory and shop equipment
Qualifications
Required
- Valid CDL (or ability to obtain one within an agreed timeframe)
- Minimum 3 years of diesel mechanic experience preferred
- Strong understanding of diesel engines and commercial vehicle systems
- Experience with air brake systems
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and service manuals
- Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment
- Ability to lift 75 pounds
- Own basic mechanic hand tools
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications
- Cummins experience
- Detroit Diesel experience
- Allison Transmission experience
- HVAC experience
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Passenger bus or motorcoach experience
