What to Expect
As a Cell Recycling Operator at Tesla's Gigafactory Nevada, you will play a critical role in driving Tesla's mission to close the loop on battery recycling. This position involves operating and monitoring equipment within the cell recycling pilot plant, ensuring peak efficiency while adhering to strict safety guidelines. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to continuously improve recycling systems, contributing to sustainable production processes and innovative solutions. This position is night shift work, requiring candidates to be comfortable working overnight hours in an outdoor industrial environment for 12-hour shifts.
What You'll Do

Operate and monitor diverse recycling equipment, bulk material flow, exhaust and scrubber systems, and water/wastewater systems, including magnetic separation and vibratory systems

Start, stop, and maintain equipment through control software, verifying parameters and trends

Support new process equipment testing, installation, and commissioning

Provide feedback on process equipment performance, highlighting issues and suggesting improvements

Track process data, collect samples for analysis, and conduct routine operator rounds and system checks

Collaborate with engineering and program management to enhance equipment reliability and adjust process parameters for optimization

Handle emergency spill response and cleanup, decontamination of equipment, and breakdown, processing, and packaging of universal waste streams
What You'll Bring-
Experience working in hazardous areas and handling chemicals, with knowledge of chemical handling and water distribution preferred

Attention to detail, multitasking ability, and adaptability to constant change

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to safety guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment and discerning audible alarms

Basic mechanical aptitude, ability to operate mobile equipment like forklifts and lifts, and skill in identifying issues in work processes using sight, touch, and hearing

This position is primarily a night shift role; however, candidates must have the flexibility to work various schedules, including days, nights, or weekends, to accommodate operational shift needs

Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands:

Willingness to wear a full-face air-purifying respirator and full PPE while performing all tasks and maintain safety standards throughout employment during the 12-hour shift

Capability to perform physically demanding work for up to 12 hours a day, including lifting up to 50 lbs. for extended periods, bending, reaching, climbing, and working in various weather conditions
