Duties
- Assist with planting, transplanting, pruning, and trimming a variety of garden and nursery plants to promote healthy growth
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules and water conservation practices
- Monitor crop health regularly by identifying pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies using plant identification skills
- Implement integrated pest management (IPM) techniques to control pests while minimizing chemical use
- Maintain greenhouse cultivation areas by cleaning, organizing tools, and adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for plant care
- Operate hand tools and mechanical equipment safely for tasks such as soil preparation, planting, and landscape maintenance
- Support outdoor work activities including lawn care, landscaping, garden trimming, and heavy lifting as needed to maintain nursery aesthetics and functionality
Experience
- Prior experience working with plants in a nursery, greenhouse, or outdoor farming environment is highly desirable
- Knowledge of horticulture principles including crop production, irrigation management, and plant pest control techniques
- Familiarity with agricultural environmental control systems used in greenhouses or nurseries
- Hands-on experience managing horticultural teams or collaborating within a team environment is a plus
- Basic math skills for measuring soil amendments, water volumes, or fertilizer applications are beneficial
- Demonstrated ability to operate gardening tools and equipment safely in outdoor or greenhouse settings
- Strong attention to detail in plant identification and crop pest management practices
