The role
As a System Engineer you’ll design, implement, and maintain complex IT systems for multiple clients. You’ll lead escalations from junior team members, contribute to solution design and pre-sales discussions, and ensure outcomes are clearly documented and communicated to non-technical stakeholders.
What you’ll do
- Troubleshoot & resolve complex issues across cloud, network, server, and security stacks; handle ticket escalations from junior engineers.
- Incident response: triage critical outages, restore services quickly, and assist with RCA documentation.
- Project & pre-sales support: translate business needs into technical solutions; contribute to scoping and client workshops.
- Technical leadership: mentor junior staff; lead technical tasks on key projects.
- Clear communication: explain technical topics to non-technical audiences; set/reset expectations; keep ticket notes detailed and current.
- Documentation & knowledge sharing: create/update wikis, standards, and runbooks.
- Collaboration: work cross-functionally with L2/L3 teams to drive timely resolution.
- Customer service: deliver a professional, proactive experience and strong CSAT outcomes.
- Continuous improvement: share ideas, adopt best practices, and participate in training.
- Safe work practices: follow company policies and procedures in a remote environment.
What you’ll bring
Experience & education
- 3–5 years in a similar System Engineer role; MSP experience across multiple clients is ideal.
- Diploma/degree in IT or equivalent industry certifications.
Soft skills

- Research savvy, including effective use of AI tools and references.

Technical skills
- Microsoft: Windows desktop/server (strong), SQL administration (intermediate), IIS administration (intermediate); licensing & compliance knowledge.
- Networking (advanced): routing/switching, firewalls, BGP, NAT/PAT, DNS, site-to-site IPSec VPNs, ACLs/NSGs, VNET gateways, ExpressRoute.
- Azure (advanced): Storage Accounts, VMs, AKS, SQL, Front Door, App Gateway, VNETs; policies; continuity features (ASR, Backup, Soft Delete, versioning, availability zones, PPGs & availability sets).
- Security: principles & best practices; familiarity with tools like Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Tenable, Cisco Umbrella.
- Automation: strong PowerShell; APIs; ARM; Azure DevOps; Bicep; JSON understanding.
- Linux: solid admin skills; package installs, configuration changes, and deep troubleshooting.
Nice-to-have certifications
- Microsoft: MS-102, AZ-305, AZ-400/300, PL-600, SC-100.
- Fortinet: NSE4 Certified Solution Specialist – Network Security.
- Cisco: CCNA, CCT R&S, Meraki Solutions Specialist.
- Citrix: CCP – Virtualization; CCP – App Delivery & Security.
- ITIL 4 Foundation.

Location & schedule
- Remote — work from anywhere (U.S.-based candidates preferred).
