A private family is seeking a highly capable and experienced full-time Housekeeper to ensure the overall cleanliness and organization of their farm estate in Upperville, Virginia.
Candidates must have previous high-level housekeeping experience in a busy household, be polished and professional, and willing to work as part of an existing team that values positivity and collaboration. The ideal candidate will be hardworking and often self-directed, with the ability to maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the family’s growing secondary residence with multiple structures on site. This position is full-time, ideally Monday-Friday, with either an 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm schedule with flexibility for extended hours when the family is on site. Upperville, VA is the primary location for this position, but this role does require some additional flexibility to travel to another residence in Washington, DC approximately 5 days total per month on an as needed basis. Additional availability to travel domestically with the family is a bonus but is not required for this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this position is to help the family maintain their home in a clean and organized manner. The ideal candidate has experience in luxury homes, a kind and calm demeanor, high attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage tasks with ease, and to physically carry laundry and cleaning supplies up and down multiple levels.
Duties
· Daily cleaning with a focus on specific zones and larger seasonal deep cleaning projects.
· Ensure the property is always guest-ready and then reset post visits.
· Assist with household laundry including washing and pressing of clothing and linens.
· Maintain Principal’s wardrobes including diligent care of all clothing when in residence.
· Cleaning and care of fine furnishings (including antiques), silver, china, plaster, and marble.
· Receive deliveries and run errands including drycleaning, shoe repair, pharmacy, floral services, etc. as needed.
· Maintain tidy and organized closets, pantries, and storage areas throughout the residences, ensuring correct inventory levels.
· Assist with basic household goods inventory including groceries, toiletries, medications and other personal care items.
· Assist with occasional events including preparation, serving, and clean-up (training provided if needed).
· Help with guests care during their stay on property.
· Some pet care and cleanup.
· Watering and helping to maintain indoor plants.
· Perform outdoor cleaning tasks including garage organization, patio upkeep, and maintaining outdoor furniture and cushions.
Skills and Abilities
· Polished, poised, kind and professional in manner.
· Ability to organize rotational household cleaning and prioritize areas to maximize efficiency.
· Excellent organization skills and an eye for detail.
· Comfortable working in a home with children and dogs.
· Must be able to understand and also maintain discretion and respect the privacy needs of the Principals and the family.
· Able to work both independently as well as part of a team that values treating each other with respect and kindness.
· Strong knowledge and skillset working with fine furnishings, delicate fabrics, and finishes.
· Flexibility around scheduling and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Formal table setting and knowledge around polishing silver is a plus.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
· A minimum of 3 years of recent, high-level housekeeping experience in a private home.
· Must be able to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
· Excellent references from past employers.
· Must have a valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
· Personal vehicle to use for errands (mileage and gas reimbursement provided).
· Legally able to work in the United States.
· Successfully complete an in-depth background investigation, including a cyber/social media risk evaluation.

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
