Position Start Date: July 26
Quality Inn Spearfish is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team. If you take pride in creating clean, comfortable guest rooms and enjoy working in a positive team environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Our hotel rooms have recently undergone renovations, featuring upgraded guest rooms with luxury vinyl plank flooring and modern finishes. We use Ecolab professional cleaning products and provide training to ensure our team delivers exceptional cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
Compensation & Employment Opportunities
- Pay is competitive and based on experience.
- This position begins as part-time, with our busiest season typically occurring during August.
- Employees who demonstrate reliability, strong performance, and a willingness to learn may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position as business needs grow.
- Employees interested in cross-training in other hotel departments, such as Front Desk, may have additional opportunities for year-round hours and continued employment during the slower winter season.
- Depending on hotel occupancy and operational needs, employees who are not cross-trained may have the opportunity to remain with the hotel on an as-needed (PRN) basis during the winter months.
Schedule
- Weekend availability, especially Sunday, is required.
- Wednesday & Thursday preferred.
- Holiday shifts may be required based on business needs.
- Typical shifts are scheduled during daytime housekeeping hours.
Job Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare approximately 10–15 guest rooms per shift. Some days may have fewer than 15 rooms.
- Make beds, replace linens and towels, and restock all guest room amenities.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize bathrooms, bedrooms, furniture, and all guest touchpoints.
- Vacuum carpets and wash and sanitize all luxury vinyl plank (LVP) floors after every guest checkout to maintain the appearance of our newly renovated rooms.
- Safely use Ecolab professional cleaning products while following all hotel safety procedures and chemical handling guidelines.
- Report maintenance concerns, damaged items, or missing inventory promptly.
- Maintain housekeeping carts, linen storage areas, and supply rooms in a clean and organized condition.
- Follow all hotel cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and brand standards.
Performance Expectations
Our goal is to provide every guest with a clean, comfortable, and welcoming room.
Housekeepers are expected to maintain both quality and productivity. Under normal conditions, a standard guest room is generally expected to take approximately 30 minutes to clean and prepare for the next guest while meeting hotel quality standards. Some rooms may require less time, while heavily soiled rooms, pet-friendly rooms, stayover rooms, or deep-cleaning assignments may require additional time.
Quality is always prioritized over speed. Every room must pass inspection before being released for guest occupancy.
Additional Responsibilities
- Some assigned rooms are pet-friendly rooms and require additional cleaning to remove pet hair, pet odors, and other pet-related debris while maintaining hotel standards.
- Periodic deep-cleaning assignments are part of this position and may include:
- Washing interior windows and glass surfaces.
- Cleaning window tracks, sills, and blinds.
- Wiping walls, doors, baseboards, vents, and light fixtures.
- Dusting high and low surfaces.
- Cleaning behind and underneath furniture as needed.
- Detailed cleaning of guest rooms and public areas to maintain the hotel's appearance.
- Assist with laundry or other housekeeping-related duties as assigned.
- Support other hotel departments when cross-trained and requested.
Qualifications
- Previous hotel or housekeeping experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout an entire shift.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
If you are dependable, motivated, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hospitality, we encourage you to apply.
Note:
Our busiest season is August, creating opportunities for increased hours. Employees who demonstrate reliability and strong performance may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position. Those interested in cross-training in other hotel departments may enjoy more consistent year-round hours. Depending on hotel occupancy and business needs, employees may also continue working on an as-needed (PRN) basis during the winter season.
