American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on a 32-bed surgical unit at a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center facility, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience.

32-bed surgical unit with an average census of 28 patients
-
Level 3 Trauma facility that is also a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center (241 licensed beds)
-
Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder, appendectomy, amputations, hip fractures, small bowel obstructions (SBO), NG tubes, and medical overflow
-
Night shift, 12-hour shifts (1845–0700)

RN-to-patient ratio: 1:5–6 on nights, with LPN and CNA support

Every other weekend rotation required
-
No on-call or call-back requirements
-
Schedules are set on a 6-week cycle
-
EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
-
IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips

Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per regional needs — candidates not willing to float should not apply

Active NC RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, central line management, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), PIV starts, wound care, and drain/tube management

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
-
Department support includes CNAs (vitals, baths, mobility, blood sugars), a Receptionist/HUC, charge nurse resource, dedicated phlebotomy team, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage

Telemetry monitoring technicians are available on the unit
-
Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
-
Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time must be added to the end of the contract
