Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to support health assessments
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or cognitive disabilities, including memory care strategies and behavior management
- Support medication administration following proper protocols and documentation procedures
- Engage residents in social activities, meal preparation, and recreational programs to promote mental and physical well-being
- Practice safe patient lifting techniques and manual handling to prevent injury for both residents and staff
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping duties and ensuring infection control standards are met
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments with a focus on geriatrics or senior care
- Strong understanding of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and memory care best practices
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments
- Knowledge of vital signs measurement, medication administration, first aid, CPR, and safe patient lifting practices
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with residents, families, and team members
- Experience working with diverse populations including those with disabilities or behavioral challenges
- Capable of heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks required in residential or home & community care settings
