Position Overview
The Tax Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring client cases progress efficiently by verifying, correcting, and maintaining accurate IRS-related documentation. This role involves frequent communication with the IRS to resolve discrepancies and gather required information. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage high call volumes in a structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, organize, and maintain client records and documentation.
- Accurately enter and update data within internal systems and databases.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in IRS forms and client information.
- Conduct a high volume of outbound calls to the IRS and other relevant entities.
- Follow established scripts, compliance procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure all work aligns with company policies and applicable laws.
- Utilize internal systems and tools, including CRM platforms, call systems, and digital filing systems.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow structured processes consistently.
- Ability to multitask effectively while managing phone-based responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with professional phone etiquette.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage high volumes of information.
- Proficiency in computer systems, data entry, and digital recordkeeping.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing client needs.
Preferred Experience & Credentials
- Basic knowledge of income tax, business entities, and filing requirements.
- Experience communicating with government agencies, particularly the IRS.
- IRS CAF Number (preferred).
- IRS Secure Object Repository (SOR) mailbox (preferred).
- AFSP Certification (preferred).
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of professional customer service experience or experience working with government agencies (required).
- Minimum of 1 year of remote work experience (required).
- Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated workspace (required).
