Responsibilities
- Perform fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing to ensure optimal signal quality and network performance.
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely to access installation sites at various heights and terrains.
- Install and maintain telecommunication cabling, including fiber optic, Ethernet (LAN), WAN, and low voltage systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and network diagrams to accurately execute installation plans.
- Conduct site surveys, prepare work plans, and adhere to safety protocols during construction and maintenance activities.
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently for cable routing, securing connections, and troubleshooting network infrastructure issues.
- Climb poles or structures as needed to install or repair fiber optic lines while following safety procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues related to telephony systems, computer networking, or electrical components.
- Document work performed through detailed reports, including test results, splicing details, and system configurations.
Experience
- Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunications or construction environments.
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as bucket trucks or cranes is highly desirable.
- Skilled in fiber splicing techniques with a strong understanding of fiber optics technology.
- Knowledge of telecommunication systems including cabling, Ethernet (LAN), WAN, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and low voltage wiring.
- Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, and network infrastructure layouts.
- Electrical experience or background in IT infrastructure is a plus.
- Ability to climb structures safely while maintaining awareness of safety standards and protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot network issues efficiently using hand tools and testing equipment.
