Duties
- Safely operate various types of commercial vehicles, including school buses, paratransit vans, and other passenger transport vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and company policies
- Transport passengers of all ages—children, seniors, or community members—ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle mechanical condition and report any issues promptly to maintenance staff
- Communicate effectively with passengers, clients, and team members using clear English or multilingual skills to ensure understanding and address needs or concerns
- Manage behavior and maintain a positive environment onboard by applying behavior management techniques when necessary
- Assist with loading/unloading passengers or cargo when required, demonstrating excellent customer service and childcare skills
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and vehicle condition reports in accordance with company procedures
Qualifications
- Valid Part-Time Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport (e.g., P for passenger)
- Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or paratransit services; familiarity with working with children or senior care is a plus
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse communities
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues effectively
- Demonstrated ability to manage behavior positively while ensuring passenger safety and comfort
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and adherence to traffic laws
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed for scheduled routes or special events
