Position: Senior DFM & GD&T Lead
Location: Hialeah, FL
Salary: $125,000 – $135,000 annually
Position Summary:
A leading high-end manufacturer of outdoor architectural products, specializing in premium shade systems and outdoor furniture is seeking an experienced Senior DFM & GD&T Lead to drive the transition of engineering designs into accurate, production-ready documentation. This role is responsible for ensuring that all products are fully manufacturable, properly documented, and optimized for efficient production from the start.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in GD&T, DFM/DFA practices, and tolerance analysis, along with the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and maintain high standards across global engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain all production 3D models, ensuring accuracy, revision control, and configurability
- Develop and manage exploded assembly drawings and cut lists to support manufacturing and service
- Lead formal DFM/DFA reviews for new products and engineering changes
- Validate GD&T standards and ensure alignment with manufacturing capabilities
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and drive design improvements prior to production release
- Establish and enforce drawing standards aligned with ASME Y14.5
- Own and manage DFMEA processes, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated
- Serve as the primary liaison between U.S.-based engineering and offshore engineering teams
- Drive manufacturing readiness by ensuring all documentation and validation steps are complete
- Promote part standardization and continuous improvement across product lines
- Mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices in DFM, GD&T, and documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 12–20+ years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment
- Expert-level knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance analysis
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (configurations, large assemblies, design tables)
- Strong background in DFM/DFA across machining, fabrication, and assembly processes
- Experience conducting and managing DFMEA reviews
- Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
- Experience working with remote or international engineering teams preferred
- Strong understanding of how engineering documentation translates to real-world production
