Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmissions across designated local routes to deliver freight promptly.
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts or other equipment, ensuring proper handling of freight such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, or roll-off containers.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to verify safety standards and vehicle condition.
- Manage route driving efficiently by planning optimal paths to meet delivery schedules while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Secure freight properly for transport, ensuring load stability during transit and unloading.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, route adjustments, or any issues encountered on the road.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, freight details, and delivery documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Experience
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with endorsements for manual transmission operation.
- Proven experience in truck driving within a local delivery environment, preferably with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks.
- Demonstrated ability to load & unload freight efficiently using forklifts or manual methods.
- Familiarity with freight handling procedures including roll-off trucks and route driving logistics.
- Experience operating various types of trucks such as tractor-trailers and specialized equipment like tanker trucks is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations related to commercial driving and freight transportation.
- Prior delivery driver experience that showcases punctuality, reliability, and excellent customer service skills.
