The Banquet Captain serves as the on-site leader, hospitality expert, and primary point of contact for all conference center events, ensuring each client and guest experience is executed with professionalism, precision, and exceptional service. This role is responsible for overseeing the flow of service during events, coordinating closely with the culinary team and event planning staff, and leading banquet team members to deliver a seamless, high-quality, and memorable experience.
The Banquet Captain assumes full ownership of each event from receipt of the Banquet Event Order (BEO) through final execution and completion. This includes anticipating guest needs, resolving issues in real time, and maintaining clear, consistent communication across all departments. This position sets the standard for service excellence and ensures all events reflect the quality, culture, and reputation of Tamarack Marketplace.
This is an hourly position with participation in service charge distribution. The role requires hands-on involvement in event execution, including the physical setup and breakdown of event spaces. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, lifting and moving tables of various sizes, setting up dance floors, staging, backdrops, and other event equipment.
Candidates must have prior experience in the hospitality industry, with a minimum of two (2) years of Banquet Captain or comparable leadership experience to lead a team, providing scheduling, payroll and performance reviews. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
The Banquet Captain must be a strong team player with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is required, as this position involves a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules. Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
