The Georgia Highlands Medical Services PRN Staff Pharmacist will provide the full-range of professional pharmaceutical services to meet the needs of the Patient Population served by the organization, and will work in concert with the Medical Staff to ensure the effective delivery of Pharmacy Services.
This position is on a PRN basis, however..
Every Other Saturday From 9 AM - 1:30 PM WILL BE REQUIRED!
SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs general pharmacist duties including dispensing drugs and medicines; reviewing prescriptions, and maintaining records of legend and controlled substances.
2. Provides Pharmaceutical Care for Health Center and Pharmacy Patients including prospective, concurrent and retrospective drug utilization reviews, screening for drug allergies, monitoring interactions and duplications, following-up with Prescribing Providers as appropriate, and counseling patients.
3. Consults with Staff Physicians and Mid-Level Providers to improve the Quality of Care provided to patients.
4. Educates the Medical Staff on cost-effective therapy and drug utilization goals (e.g., target drug programs and formulary).
5. Participates in patient education programs, and coordinates the development of educational materials as appropriate.
6. Serves patients/customers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner, and promotes patient/customer satisfaction.
7. Follows proper HIPAA Procedures.
8. Must have the ability to work varying shifts and days on an as-needed basis.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
1. Bachelor of Science (BS) or Doctorate in Pharmacy Degree from an Accredited School of Pharmacy.
2. Current License in good standing with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.
3. Knowledge of formulary systems, inventory control systems, cash control and budgetary procedures for a medium- to high-volume pharmacy.
4. Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with the Medical Staff, Patients and Customers.
5. Strong Computer Literacy Skills, especially with Electronic Pharmacy Management Systems, and Electronic Health Record (EHR) Applications.
