Waycross Internal Medicine is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Insurance Billing Specialist to join our growing medical practice. The ideal candidate is organized, motivated, and experienced in medical billing, insurance claims, and patient account management. Job Responsibilities
As our Insurance Billing Specialist, you will:
- Prepare, review, and submit accurate medical claims to insurance carriers.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments.
- Investigate, appeal, and resolve denied or rejected insurance claims.
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately into the practice management system.
- Answer patient billing questions and assist with payment arrangements.
- Monitor outstanding claims and follow up with insurance companies to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Obtain and submit prior authorizations for procedures and services.
- Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring compliance with payer guidelines and HIPAA regulations.
- Work closely with providers and office staff to resolve billing issues efficiently.
Qualifications
Required:
- 1–3 years of experience in medical billing, medical coding, or healthcare administration.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT, and payer guidelines.
- Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and medical practice management software.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced medical office.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred
- Experience with insurance appeals and denial management.
- Prior authorization experience.
- Knowledge of accounts receivable (A/R) follow-up.
