Students attend school in dress code for 200 instructional days each year and benefit from an extended school day, providing additional opportunities for meaningful learning and academic growth.Position SummaryMystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking an energetic and dedicated Physical Education Teacher to teach students in Grades K6.The successful candidate will promote lifelong health and wellness by developing students' physical fitness, motor skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence through engaging, age-appropriate instruction. The ideal candidate is committed to creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment while encouraging students to develop healthy habits and a positive attitude toward physical activity.Essential ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging physical education instruction for students in Grades K6.Develop lessons that promote physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles.Create and maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.Assess student progress and maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records.Complete progress reports and report cards in accordance with school expectations.Communicate regularly with students, families, and school leadership regarding student progress.Attend and participate in faculty meetings, grade-level meetings, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, and professional development activities.Participate in IEP meetings as assigned.Conduct parent-teacher conferences and participate in Back-to-School Night, Open Houses, and other school events.Fulfill assigned morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon supervisory duties.Support and uphold all school policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations.Collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and support staff to promote student success.Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Education, or a closely related field required.Massachusetts licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Physical Education preferred.Experience teaching physical education or leading youth athletic, recreational, or fitness programs preferred.Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum, child development, and age-appropriate instructional practices.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong classroom management, organization, and collaboration skills.Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.Commitment to student wellness, academic excellence, and a positive school culture.Successful completion of applicable Massachusetts MTEL requirements within one year of employment.Compensation & BenefitsSalary: Competitive and commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.Comprehensive benefits package.Professional development opportunities.Affordable housing option available with the position, if needed.Supportive and collaborative faculty community committed to academic excellence.Equal Opportunity EmployerMystic Valley Regional Charter School is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
