As a Nurse Practitioner in this role, you will perform Compensation and Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans and separating military members. This is a non-treatment, assessment-based position where you serve as a medical evaluator supporting disability claims and benefit determinations.
There is no ongoing patient care, prescribing, or follow-up treatment involved. The focus is on objective medical evaluation, documentation, and evidence-based reporting.
Comprehensive Evaluations:
Conduct Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs) and Separation Health Assessments (SHA) for Veterans transitioning from military service.
Medical Record Review:
Review and analyze Veteran medical histories and extract relevant information for claim-related conditions.
Physical Assessments:
Perform focused and comprehensive exams based on claimed conditions.
Medical Opinions:
Provide evidence-based medical opinions, including nexus determinations, supported by clinical findings and history.
Diagnostics:
Order and interpret labs, imaging (X-rays), and other diagnostics as needed for assessments.
Timely Documentation:
Complete and submit all documentation through the online portal within 24 hours of each exam.
Patient Load:
1-3 Veterans per day, depending on complexity and number of DBQs required.
Exam Duration:
Approximately 1.5-3 hours per case (longer for complex evaluations).
Support:
Work alongside a local team and Market Manager to ensure consistent, high-quality assessments.
Licensure:
Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license (State of Texas required)
Experience:
Primary care, occupational health, or disability evaluation experience preferred but not required
Clinical Skills:
Strong physical assessment skills and ability to synthesize complex medical histories into clear documentation and opinions
Technical Skills:
Comfort with cloud-based EHR systems and digital documentation platforms

Work-Life Balance:
Monday-Friday schedule (8 AM-4 PM). No nights, weekends, or holidays.
Low-Stress Clinical Environment:
No treatment, prescriptions, or insurance authorizations.
Administrative Support:
Supervising physician (MD) provided to meet Texas regulatory requirements.
Equipment Provided:
All IT and clinical equipment supplied.
