Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor – Mobile to lead a team responsible for the planned and unplanned maintenance of mobile equipment in an underground mining operation. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on maximizing equipment availability, ensuring high safety standards, and supporting production goals through effective maintenance execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to mechanics performing preventive, reactive, and emergency maintenance on mobile mining equipment
- Plan, schedule, and oversee the execution of all maintenance activities for the mobile fleet
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Planner to ensure preventive maintenance (PMs) are completed according to the site’s Work Management Process
- Manage contract maintenance providers, both on-site and off-site
- Work closely with operations supervisors and the mobile maintenance planner to prioritize and meet equipment availability needs
- Ensure all CMMS entries, work orders, shift reports, timecards, and maintenance documentation are completed accurately and on time
- Maintain adequate spare parts inventory and availability for mobile equipment
- Set and enforce high standards for quality, safety, and productivity of the maintenance team
- Manage urgent breakdown repairs to minimize equipment downtime
- Conduct daily inspections of ongoing and completed work to ensure quality and reliability
- Participate in risk assessments, SOP development, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead by example in safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to MSHA regulations
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to maintenance personnel
- Step in to perform hands-on mechanical work when required during emergencies or for training purposes
Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in heavy equipment or mobile fleets
- Previous supervisory or lead experience in a maintenance environment preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge of underground mining mobile equipment
- Experience with CMMS systems (IFS experience is a strong plus)
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred
- ATF possessor’s clearance required (or ability to obtain)
- Must have or be able to complete MSHA 40-hour training
- Ability to pass a physical examination and drug screen
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
