Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists with patient evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation exercises to promote optimal recovery.
- Support patient transfer methods using proper manual handling techniques to ensure safety and comfort.
- Prepare treatment areas, set up equipment, and maintain cleanliness to uphold high standards of hygiene and safety.
- Monitor patient progress during therapy sessions, document observations accurately, and communicate updates to the healthcare team.
- Help with patient intake procedures, including gathering medical histories and explaining therapy processes clearly.
- Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Support hospital or clinic staff by managing equipment inventory, sterilization procedures, and adhering to safety protocols.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to physiotherapy and rehabilitation care.
- Proven experience practicing in a physical therapy role within hospital or outpatient settings, including inpatient or outpatient clinics.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly and empathetically.
- Hands-on experience with patient transfer methods, manual handling techniques, and heavy lifting when necessary.
- Familiarity with CPR certification and acute care practices to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Experience working in hospital medicine or sub-acute care environments such as geriatrics or orthopedics.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality diligently while managing intake processes and documentation.
