Suffolk County Nursing Home is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team of amazing healthcare professionals as an RN Supervisor
The hours are 11pm-7am
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides direct and individualized nursing care to residents based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
- Collects current symptoms as well as a detailed assessment before consulting with the physician and healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
- Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes residents based upon nursing standards and protocol.
- Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
- Initiates, prepares and administers IV therapy and records prescribed medications.
- Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
- Assists with any emergent care; i.e. cleans and bandages wounds, provides basic bedside care, administer oxygen or emergent Rx as prescribed by the MD.
- Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for residents.
- Makes regular rounds to assure the optimal quality of care is provided.
- Aware of nursing skills, abilities, and the classification of staff and gives direction to the LPN and CNA staff.
- Serve as a role model to the aides and LPN staff through implementation of the nursing process for their identified residents.
- Participates in establishing and maintaining standards of care.
- Identify, investigate and report resident/environmental safety factors in collaboration with the nursing department.
- Demonstrate the ability to set priorities and manage time in an efficient manner.
- Problem solves and implements mechanisms for resolution.
- Communicates pertinent resident and administrative information to other shifts.
- Ensure confidentiality of resident information (HIPPA).
- Perform efficiently in emergent situations: calm, good judgment, follow protocols, inform appropriate personnel, and document event.
- Perform within the scope of practice, demonstrate awareness of legal issues and utilize judgment and actions to reduce potential adverse consequence for resident, facility, and staff.
- Function within the scope of the NYS practice act, standard of practice, ANA code of ethics, and facility P/P.
- Assure completion of all assignments delegated.
- Responsible for ensuring that the MD is informed of any changes in the resident’s condition, abnormal diagnostics, and consultant’s recommendations.
- Performs any other duties as necessary or assigned by a supervisor, department head, or administrator.

Physical Demands/Qualifications :
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required—bending, stooping, turning, stretching, reaching above the shoulders and occasional lifting are involved.
- Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional and physical stress of the position.
- Must be able to observe, listen and communicate effectively.
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, support agencies, and outside agencies.
- Must be able to transfer and pivot residents.
- A graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with valid NYS RN license
- 3 years of successful nursing experience, preferably in a sub-acute/long-term care facility
- Must have acute care nursing skills
- Ability to keep accurate records according to all laws, regulations, and policies
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain and display professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner
- Knowledge and respect of the principles of Resident Rights, confidentiality, EEO and ADA as well as any other applicable laws and regulations
- Ability to solve problems involving several variables in standardized situations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and carry out written and oral instructions with precision
- Interest in the nursing needs of the aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both.
- CPR certified.

Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
