American Traveler is seeking a night shift RN for a Neuro Med/Surg unit at a Level 2 Trauma Center and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center in St. Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient Med/Surg experience.

8 East Neuro unit within a hospital setting recognized as a Level 2 Trauma Center and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center

Night shift schedule: 1900–0730

Every other weekend required

No on-call requirements

Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit

EMR: Epic

13-week contract
-
Active RN license — must meet eligibility requirements for licensure in Missouri or hold a current MO or Compact RN license

BLS certification from AHA required
-
ACLS certification from AHA preferred
-
Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required

Neuro experience preferred
-
No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months

Valid U.S. Social Security Number required — Canadian SINs are not accepted

Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled

Provides direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Cares for patients post-trauma, post-surgical intervention, and with medical comorbidities
-
Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary and other departments to optimize patient outcomes
-
Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, frequent bending, stooping, lifting and turning patients with assistance, and pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs.

High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids

Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift — candidates must be available the entire orientation week

Black scrubs required

RTO of up to 5 days is permitted but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment

Flu vaccination (or a Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted

Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
-
Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a minimum 1-year separation or relocation outside the 50-mile radius is required
