As a CBRE Union Engineer, you will support a critical telecommunications network facility located in New York City. This position is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing critical building systems within an approximately 800,000-square-foot, 29-story network operations facility. The engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and uptime of mission-critical infrastructure supporting the client's telecommunications operations.
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services function. The Engineering and Technical Services team is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, repairs, and operational oversight of critical building equipment and systems in commercial, industrial, and mission-critical environments.
This is a stationary position supporting a single location. The role is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement with Local 94 and includes overtime opportunities as part of the assigned split shift schedule. What You'll Do
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on critical facility systems and equipment.
Operate and maintain HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and building automation systems to ensure optimal facility performance and uptime.
Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure including generators, chillers, cooling towers, switchgear, PLCs, CRAC units, and related mission-critical systems.
Respond to equipment failures and building-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Monitor building systems through BAS and other control platforms to maintain operational reliability.
Maintain compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, client requirements, and operational procedures.
Complete work orders, maintenance records, operating logs, and reports using the Corrigo CMMS platform.
Coordinate with vendors performing preventive maintenance and specialized services on UPS systems and other critical equipment.
Support fire/life safety systems and emergency response procedures to minimize operational disruptions.
Communicate effectively with CBRE leadership, client representatives, vendors, and fellow engineering staff regarding facility operations and maintenance activities.
Identify opportunities for operational improvements, energy efficiency initiatives, and equipment reliability enhancements.
Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. What You'll Need
High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting commercial real estate, mission-critical facilities, telecommunications facilities, data centers, or critical environments.
Experience operating and maintaining critical infrastructure systems including:
Chillers
Cooling Towers
Generators
Electrical Switchgear
PLCs
CRAC Units
Building Automation Systems (BAS)
HVAC Systems
Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably Corrigo.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in critical facility environments.
Ability to work a split shift schedule and perform overtime as required.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Required Certifications & Licenses

Experience supporting telecommunications facilities, network buildings, data centers, or other mission-critical environments.
Prior experience supporting critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure with high availability requirements.
Previous union engineering experience, preferably within Local 94 environments.

The pay range for this position is subject to an applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. The negotiated rate for the Union Engineer position is $107,036.80 annually [or $51.46 per hour]. Please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding pay scale.
