We are seeking a dedicated and observant Security Officer to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff year-round.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a Safe and Secure Environment:
- Patrol the school grounds, buildings, and parking areas to deter and detect suspicious activity.
- Monitor security cameras and access control systems to identify and address potential security breaches.
- Secure the school building after hours and ensure all entry points are properly locked.
- Respond promptly to alarms and other security emergencies, following established protocols.
- Enforce school safety rules and regulations regarding visitors, student conduct, and access to restricted areas.
- Escort unauthorized visitors off school grounds and de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
- Assist with crowd control during school events and activities.
Provide Support and Assistance:
- Provide directions and assistance to students, staff, and visitors.
- Report any safety hazards or maintenance concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with lockdown drills and other emergency response procedures.
- Perform basic first aid and CPR as needed.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain clear and professional communication with students, staff, and administrators.
- Report suspicious activity and security incidents to supervisors promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with school staff, security personnel, and law enforcement as needed.
Qualifications:
- SORA Certification by the New Jersey State Police
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior security experience in a school setting or similar environment a plus.
- Strong understanding of security best practices and procedures.
- Excellent observational skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform security patrols throughout the school grounds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
