Summary
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our JANA Engineering team. This individual is responsible for all aspects of the avionics integration engineering including design, analysis, substantiation, certification and project engineering in support of STC Projects for both Air Transport and General Aviation Aircraft.
Responsibilities
- Along with the Electrical Engineering Division Manager, you will be responsible for the management and development of the Avionics Systems Engineering Department.
- Serve as liaison between JANA, the Customer, DER's, and the FAA to maintain compliance with applicable regulations and policies for airworthiness and type certification.
- Coordinate all certification activities with all applicable branches of the FAA and military.
- Generate and coordinate generation of reports to support certification activities such as Project Specific Certification Plans, Test Reports, etc. Coordinate and submit all type of design data, analysis, plans and reports to the FAA and military authorities.
- Manage team of engineers and designers while supervising various projects on the production floor.
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for avionics integration.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed design drawings and specifications.
- Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot design issues and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Maintain compliance with industry codes and standards throughout the design process.
- Analyze the needs of departments, with input and approval from corporate management, and establish priorities for feasibility studies, systems design and implementation to develop new and/or modify the company's information processing systems.
- Prepare technical documentation, including Engineering Orders (EOs), for system installations.
- Create 3D models/2D drawings for engineering department to support manufacturing and kitting department.
- Coordinate design criteria with other engineers, manufacturing department, and design groups to ensure ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications are met.
- Show compliance with the applicable FAR regulations per the agreed upon PSCP for each project.
- Drive the accomplishment of corporate, factory, departmental and team goals.
- Review and check designs for compliance to internal, customer and regulatory requirements and standards.
- Monitor program milestones and program status and prepare cost estimates and kit definition in support of sales proposals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in the aircraft industry with local and foreign (FAA, EASA, etc.) regulations, procedures and the STC process.
- Proven experience in mechanical design within the aerospace industry.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software for design purposes.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
- Experience with MATLAB is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with logic controllers and fabrication processes is beneficial.
- Travel as required to support JANA's business activities.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
