Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy equipment and vehicle repair, with a strong background in diesel engine systems. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of gasonline and diesel-powered machinery and vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. The position offers an opportunity to work with diverse equipment including trucks, pumps, industrial equipment, and heavy-duty vehicles in a dynamic environment.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, and brake repairs
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using hand tools and power tools
- Repair and maintain heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery
- Read schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
- Assemble or disassemble equipment for repairs or upgrades
- Operate heavy equipment for testing purposes when necessary
- Conduct alignment procedures and suspension repairs to manufacturer specifications
- Ensure all repairs meet safety standards and comply with industry regulations
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of work performed
Experience
- Proven dealership experience or extensive background in heavy truck repair or industrial equipment maintenance
- Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, and mechanical systems repair
- Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication, and use of hand tools and power tools
- Knowledge of Caterpillar, Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Diesel Engines, HVAC systems related to diesel machinery
- Experience working with schematics for electrical and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with farm machinery, excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and other heavy-duty vehicles
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform complex repairs on transmissions, suspensions, shocks & struts
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely including excavators and cranes when required
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service experience for client interactions during service calls
