Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories and vital signs to ensure safety during procedures
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to their needs
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office policies
- Review documentation, update medical records, and assist with dental coding to ensure precise billing and recordkeeping
Skills
- Exposure/proficiency with Dentrix Ascend for charting, documentation and scheduling
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, and aseptic techniques
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively
- Familiarity with general dentistry procedures, including chairside assisting and medical imaging techniques
- Ability to review documentation accurately, perform patient assessments confidently, and adhere to HIPAA standards
- Knowledge of dental terminology, vital signs monitoring, and infection prevention practices necessary for safe practice
