Head of Marine Brokerage
MK Asset Management
Florida Panhandle / Destin, FL
Compensation: Commission Only | 45% Commission on Boats Personally Listed & Sold
Build MK’s New Marine Brokerage Division
MK Asset Management is launching a dedicated marine brokerage division focused on representing boat owners through the consignment and sale process.
MK is an established marine asset services company that has previously facilitated boat transactions and works directly with boat owners, marinas, dealerships, and marine businesses. We are now ready to build a team specifically around boat brokerage.
We are looking for the person who wants to build that division with us.
This is not a traditional broker position where you are handed a desk, a few listings, and told to follow someone else’s system. As our Head of Marine Brokerage, you will help establish the brokerage operation, bring boats under exclusive listing agreements, develop seller and buyer relationships, close transactions, and eventually help build a team of brokers underneath you.
Compensation
This is a commission-only position.
For boats you personally list and sell, you will receive:
45% of the brokerage commission
Example:
A boat sells for $300,000 with a 10% brokerage commission.
- Total brokerage commission: $30,000
- Your 45% share: $13,500
- MK share: $16,500
There is no artificial earnings ceiling. Your compensation is tied directly to the business you create and close.
Additional leadership compensation and overrides may become available as the brokerage division grows and additional brokers are brought onto the team.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Source boat and yacht owners interested in selling
- Secure exclusive brokerage and consignment listings
- Evaluate vessels and help establish appropriate asking prices
- Coordinate professional listing preparation, photography, and marketing
- Manage inbound buyer inquiries and prospecting
- Schedule and conduct showings
- Coordinate sea trials, surveys, inspections, and related logistics
- Negotiate offers between buyers and sellers
- Help manage transactions through closing
- Develop relationships with marinas, dealerships, captains, owners, lenders, and other marine professionals
- Build a strong database of buyers and sellers
- Help develop MK’s brokerage processes, standards, and sales strategy
- Assist in recruiting and developing additional brokers as the division expands
Why MK
MK already operates within the marine industry.
Our existing services and relationships give the brokerage division capabilities that a traditional standalone broker may not have. We can help owners prepare vessels for market, coordinate detailing and reconditioning, maintain showing condition, assist with logistics, and manage other aspects of the asset throughout the sales process.
The goal is to create a brokerage operation where an owner can hand MK the responsibility of preparing, marketing, managing, and selling their boat from beginning to end.
We have moved boats before.
Now we want to build the company, team, and infrastructure around doing it at scale.
Who We’re Looking For
Boat or yacht brokerage experience is preferred, but not required.
We are also open to training ambitious people who want to break into the boating industry and build a long-term career in marine sales and brokerage.
We are interested in people who are:
- Experienced in boat, yacht, marine, automotive, RV, luxury, or other high-ticket sales, or highly motivated to learn
- Comfortable generating their own business and building relationships
- Confident speaking with boat owners, business owners, and high-value clients
- Competitive, self-motivated, and comfortable working on commission
- Strong communicators and negotiators
- Highly responsive and professional with clients
- Entrepreneurial and interested in helping build a new division
- Willing to learn the boating industry, brokerage process, vessel terminology, and transaction workflow
- Capable of eventually helping lead and develop other brokers as the division grows
Existing marine-industry relationships or prior brokerage experience are a significant advantage, but we care just as much about drive, professionalism, sales ability, and willingness to learn.
Candidates entering the marine industry will be provided guidance and training on MK’s brokerage process and the fundamentals needed to begin building a book of business.
Candidates must hold, or be able to obtain, any Florida licensing required for the brokerage activities they will perform.
The Opportunity
We are not hiring someone simply to sell a few boats.
We are looking for people who can help turn MK Marine Brokerage into a serious brokerage operation.
You will be entering at the beginning of the division, with the ability to influence how it operates, how it grows, and eventually how the brokerage team is built.
Whether you already have years of marine sales experience or you are an ambitious salesperson looking for your entry into the boating industry, this is an opportunity to get involved at the ground level and grow with the division.
