Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join the Big Heart Center for Parkinson's Wellness team in Bedford, TX. The ideal candidate shares our belief that communication and swallowing are fundamental to quality of life, and is committed to helping patients with Parkinson's disease and related neurological conditions maintain their voice, their safety, and their connection to the world around them.
In this vital role, you will go beyond standard protocols to perform comprehensive evaluations and implement personalized, evidence-based therapy programs that address the whole patient — cognitive, communicative, and lifestyle — empowering individuals navigating Parkinson's disease and related neurological syndromes (PSP, CBD, MSA) to live life to the fullest.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations for patients with Parkinson's disease and related neurological conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans targeting voice, speech, swallowing, cognition, and communication
- Apply evidence-based interventions including LSVT LOUD, SPEAK OUT!, and cognitive-communication therapy
- Perform and interpret videostroboscopy and FEES for swallowing assessment
- Educate patients and caregivers on safe swallowing strategies, communication techniques, and disease progression
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and wellness coaches
- Monitor and document patient progress in accordance with regulatory and payer requirements
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Parkinson's disease and related Parkinsonian syndromes and their impact on communication and swallowing
- Proficiency in voice, speech, cognitive, and dysphagia assessment tools
- Familiarity with LSVT LOUD, SPEAK OUT!, and AAC strategies
- Ability to deliver personalized, goal-driven care that extends beyond standard protocols
- Comfort working in a community-oriented, multidisciplinary setting
- Strong patient and caregiver communication and education skills
- Commitment to holistic, lifestyle-based care
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
- Clinical Fellowship considered
- LSVT LOUD or SPEAK OUT! certification a plus
- Experience in neurological or geriatric rehabilitation preferred
