This position provides the chance to work with students in moderate special education classrooms, many of whom are on the autism spectrum. Multiple openings are available in both early elementary (K/1) and middle school settings, allowing you to put your passion and expertise to work where it matters most.
What We're Looking For:
- Valid Louisiana Special Education (SPED) teaching certification, or a valid LA teaching certificate with a commitment to pursuing SPED certification
- Recent classroom experience in special education preferred
- Knowledge and experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder highly desirable
- Flexibility to work with varied age groups—early elementary or middle school
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a positive, student-centered approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Deliver engaging, adapted instruction in moderate special education classrooms
- Collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and families to foster a supportive learning environment
- Track student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with school requirements
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of learners
