About the role
The Senior Accounting Manager at CG Oncology plays a crucial role in supporting financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting records. The individual is an accounting professional with experience in a fast-paced public company environment and demonstrates experience supporting the accounting function and collaborating cross-functionally to meet the needs of a changing and growing business. This position is responsible for managing complex accruals and account reconciliations, implementing key systems to support ongoing company growth, assisting with SEC filings, ensuring SOX 404(b) compliance and assisting with technical accounting exercises as needed. Additionally, this individual plays a central role in supporting special projects across the accounting function.
Essential Functions

Prepaid Services Tracking and Reconciliations: Review and approve prepaid services accounts, including software subscriptions, licenses, and maintenance agreements. Monitor prepaid balances, amortization schedules, and ensure accurate recognition in financial statements.

Clinical trials – Track and support clinical trial accruals in Condor, including fluctuation analysis and support of budget versus actual inquiries

Expense Report System: Collaborate with cross-functional team to implement a new expense report software, including preparation for Sunshine Act compliance and acting as an SME during implementation and training

Month-End Close Support: Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation and approval, account reconciliations, and financial reporting tasks. Ensure adherence to close timelines and accuracy of financial data.

Financial Analysis: Assist in financial analysis activities, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and ad-hoc reporting, to support decision-making and business insights.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function, recommending and implementing enhancements to streamline workflows and enhance controls.

Compliance and Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audit requests, providing documentation, explanations, and support as needed. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, and Procurement, to support business initiatives, address accounting-related issues, and drive process improvements.

Investments – ensure compliance with our investment policy and accurate analysis and accrual of investment categorization monthly

Consolidation – Prepare consolidation entries for subsidiaries

Payroll – Assist with payroll processing and associated reconciliation

Capitalized Software – Partner with Director of Technical Accounting to assess and track ongoing capitalized software projects

Equity Accounting: Support accurate equity schedules and associated SOX controls
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

Seven plus (7+) years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on clinical trial accruals, equity, purchase order management, prepaid services tracking, and expense report audits.

Strong understanding of manufacturing and clinical operations processes and their financial implications.

Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite, Coupa, Oracle or SAP, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
